If you use the Toddy system for brewing coffee, the decanter lid eventually becomes discolored and brittle, and it will need to be replaced. The plastic is hard, not pliable, so the edges will tend to crack. In addition, the color is white and the coffee will stain it. I have used this system for nearly 25 years and love it, but the price of the lid compared to the quality of the plastic, is overall too high for the item, but it is necessary if you use the glass decanter. I wish they made one to fit the Toddy decanter that was more like a rubber sealing lid than a hard plastic one.

it fits great with the toddy decanter. I bought it just in case I lose the one I have and you can,t get it at the local store.

This thing is an ounce or two of blow-molded plastic. What on earth makes it worth anything like ten dollars? Last I saw it was available elsewhere on the Web for less than 1/4th of that price.My advice is to turn a plug on your wood lathe. Failing that, shop around. You can do way better than this!
