Filters work great, not to mention the Chemex Coffee Maker makes an awesome cup of coffee without the hassle of cleanup/maintenance.Note: I always wet the filter with hot water, swivel the water around the bottom of the container, dump it, and then add the ground coffee. This not only cleans the filter, but also makes it form to the coffee maker nicely. This helps avoid having coffee grinds get into the folds of the filter as well.

Chemex has a couple of these white coffee filters on the market; this one lists around 11 bucks; there is an almost identical one that lists at 9 bucks through Amazon too. I have both products (wanted to see what the difference was). I don't see any major (or minor) differences, so first, buy the cheaper one (my advice). As to the product, they really are much heavier than the typical coffee filters you buy--even the "better" brands. One thing though, these are kind of weird. You get them, and they are folded in four sections. You can use them on a regular coffee machine (cone type), but they are specifically designed for the glass chemex glass decanters. What's strange is you are directed to unfold one portion (of the folded pieces) and put the other three sides toward the decanter pouring opening. In essence you have three sides touching the glass on one side and one side touching the glass on the other side where is all fits into the cone (or rounded opening). So why have three sides to filter when the other side is just one layer thick? It's hard to explain, and other reviewers have tried; don't let that discourage you though, it really is a great product, and it (these heavy filters) is the main reason Chemex glass decanters produce such superior coffee (well, that plus the fact that you control the temperature of the water going through your coffee grounds). Hope this helps. Update: The difference between the FC-100 and the FS-100 is this one is a CONE and the other one is just a sheet of paper folded into quarters (a reqular sheet of paper folded twice). The cone fits a little better into the Chemex in my opinion. Prices fluctuate, so keep that in mind.

I like these filters a lot but when you add the S&H cost to the price of the filters, they are expensive.
