The description for all of these tightvac products claim that they create a vacuum seal which is not even close to true. All these things are is a lid that fits over a base and a button on the lid which opens a valve. When you close this container you hold the button to let the air out but no air pressure is removed from the container, it will always have the exact same air pressure as the environment it was in when you closed it.All the valve is on this is a button that pushes a little plastic washer on the lid which allows air to move in an out, it should be a 1 way valve with a pump as they would lead us to believe when they say it creates a vacuum seal.

This product is fine for storing coffee for short periods of time. However, the basic marketing premise is false. This product does not achieve or maintain a vacuum. The air you hear rushing out when pushing down the lid is simply the air inside the lid. Unless the container is completely, utterly filled to the brim, then air will be retained inside the container. The emptier the container, the more air remains inside. And air, as we know, is a major enemy of coffee. . .especially ground coffee.To achieve a true vacuum this would need a pump and gaskets to maintain the seal. This has neither.In terms of storing coffee, these work OK for very short-term use (less than 2 weeks) and unless you're pounding endless pots of java I don't recommend buying anything bigger than the 1/2 pound size. Your prized beans or grinds will be stale and nasty long before you get to the bottom of the container. If you're planning to store other food items then this advice may not apply. But just know that whatever you store will interact with the air. And that's seldom a good thing.My search for the optimum coffee storage system continues. . .

leaked water, therefore not airtight. all 3 containers i bought failed the leak test. not vacuum sealed either, lots of air inside when closed. these canisters are not airtight or vacuum sealed. its a sham. i had no problem gettin my moneyback but i lost money in gas driving to post office to return them because of false advertisment. thermos or mason jars will do a better job at keeping ya coffee fresh than anything on market. coffee's 4 biggest enemies are air, heat, moisture, and light. a completely airtight seal is very important to keep your coffee fresh in a dark place. frig storage is a big no no.
